The Yoga Journey, A Journey Home
Home is where the heart is.
Yoga is a journey. Each individual practice brings you from one state to another in your body, mind and heart. In such a lovely way, the evolution of your practice over time will continue as long as you continue to show up on your mat.
The beauty of yoga is that – with all of its eight limbs and the myriad styles and forms it takes – yoga is for everyone, for every time, for every circumstance this crazy life throws at you.
Feeling overworked and generally overtaxed? Try a yin or restorative practice.
Feeling kind of down and unmotivated? Try a stronger, more fiery vinyasa or Ashtanga practice.
Feeling frustrated by – yet another – delay at the airport? Close your eyes and focus on breathing slowly, deeply and evenly (sama vritti pranayam).
Feeling bummed because your coworker just received the great promotion you were working toward? Find a quiet, comfortable spot and focus on feeling content (santosha) with the things you are happy with in life.
Feeling unsettled because you’re in the middle of moving? Clear a mat-sized spot on the floor and practice child’s pose (balasana) or downward-facing dog (adho mukha svanasana) to feel more grounded.
You see, yoga is a tool – a beautiful, accessible, powerful and useful tool for navigating the rollercoaster of life.
And yes, sometimes you need to step off the rollercoaster for a short time and more fully engage with your practice (and therefore, your Self) in order to bring a new level of connection and understanding to all aspects of your life. This is what our Exotic Yoga Retreats are all about!
Once embarked upon, the yoga journey will forever serve you.
As our participants return home from our retreats, we hope they are doing so with the sense that they have already returned home to themselves. The practice of yoga will continually peel away the layers of our mental, emotional and physical barriers—ultimately, revealing our truest, most joyful, peaceful and abundant Self.
The yoga journey is a way home; home to your Self.
I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace.
When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me,
We are one.
