Thank you for this retreat; every minute was worth it! It was such a mind, body and heart opening… and so much fun! I learned to how to be present and the importance of surrender. It’s helping make my day-to-day life magical, and I can give so much to others as I have feel so fulfilled inside! Thank you again, and can’t wait for the next retreat!

Dec. 28  •  Pre–Retreat  Welcome dinner in Cusco

Meet your fellow sojourners, Peruvian guide Silverio, and Exotic Yoga Retreat teacher Hillary Wright, for an opening dinner we organize at our favorite restaurant in the heart of Cusco!  Following dinner you will stay at your own hotel, and next morning (29th) we will pick you up and bring you to the the retreat. We strongly recommend you arrive in Cusco by December 26 or 27 to rest and acclimate to the altitude. Cusco is a wonderful historic town to wander on your own – or meet up and explore with other retreat participants also staying in Cusco.

Dec. 29  •  Depart for the Sacred Valley & visit Moray Circles en route

After breakfast, a van will pick you up and take you (1.5 hours) to our beautiful retreat center in the Sacred Valley. En route, stop and explore the mysterious terraced circles at the Moray archeological site, surrounded by stunning agricultural plains and majestic mountains. Arrive to our retreat in time for a welcome lunch and an introduction to our lovely Quechua staff. This day is dedicated to ‘Pachamama’ who represents Mother Earth. After a morning yoga practice in the stunning and artistic yoga shala, enjoy a warm and healthy breakfast, followed by a guided tour of the phenomenal Chakra Gardens… you have never seen flowers like this! Unwind, enjoy the spa, take a walk and connect with nature.Today is a day to nourish your body with healthy meals and deep yoga – and nourish your spirit with tea-leaf readings and a transformative fire ceremony led by a shaman healer from the high Andes. The ceremony serves as a wonderful preparation of mind, body and spirit for your immersion into sacred Peruvian culture.

Dec. 31  •  Hike the ancient P’isaq ruins leading to the famous P’isaq market!

Yoga and breakfast prepares us for a fabulous adventure to the spectacular ruins in P’ísac, the ancient Incan Temple of the Sun located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Enjoy a moderate hike down the P’isac ruins, stopping for a picnic lunch with the most stunning views of the Sacred Valley below! Awaiting you at the bottom of the mountain are the famous Písac markets where you can shop for woven goods, jewelry, wall hangings and hand-painted beadwork. A late afternoon yoga session of restoratives and pranayama prepare us for a special dinner and New Years meditation to mark the closing of this year – and opening of the new year ahead!

Jan 1 •  Welcome the New Year in a silent morning retreat & New Year hike!

What better way to usher in the New Year than waking up in Peru, in the sacred Andes Mountains, in the Chakra Gardens, in the company of fellow yogis — beginning your new year in silent meditation, yoga and the luxury of “being”. As a sojourner, you were called to the Sacred Valley. Today is a gift of peace dedicated to you. In silence, enjoy the pure energy of the Chakra Gardens. Feel Pachamama’s embrace and allow her to whisper her wisdom to your soul. At lunch we will break silence. More active guests may take a 2-hour hike climbing the zigzag paths of the ancient Maras Salt Farms… or indulge in an Andean spa treatment to pamper body and soul. This day is about deep peace, rejuvenation and a great celebration of your highest self!

Jan 3  •  Hike Machu Picchu

You are free to experience Machu Picchu exactly as you feel!  Hike with the group or on your own to see the most stunning views you will ever see!  You may wish to find a hidden terrace and meditate or practice yoga… this is your moment to discover the strong spirit of Machu Picchu!   We will take an afternoon train back to our resort in time for dinner.

Jan 4  •  Rest, Relax & Rejuvenate!

General Information & FAQ’s
1. Travel Visa

No visas are required for South African, Canadian or USA citizens. Your Passport must be valid for 3-6 months from arrival date in Peru. You will be stamped with a tourism card at arrival which you must hold on to for departure. Please check with your Consolate to see if you need a VISA if you are from a country not listed above.

2. Weather in Peru

December/January is Peru’s summer. It tends to be warmer and wetter than the winter “dry season”. However, rainfall generally occurs at night and the days are generally sunny and in the high 70’s with lows at night in the 50’s. It is a wonderful time to be in Peru as the abundant plant life is in bloom, the tourist season is quieter and the rains can bring beautiful misty mornings at Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.

3. Money | Cash | Credit Cards

Yes, you will want money for a few lunches on your own and any additional services or gifts you may choose to purchase while in Peru. US Dollars: Please note that overly worn American dollars with rips or tears will not be accepted in Peru. The banks do not accept torn or worn US currency and no one else does either. Bring US currency in $20-$100 denominations, as crisp and new as possible. $1 bills are not accepted. We suggest that you wait until you arrive in Cusco to exchange money in reputable exchange agencies or ATM’s. Peru is a cash country and local tourist markets do not accept credit cards. Only high-end tourist shops and expensive restaurants accept credit cards.

4. WiFi

There is Wi-Fi access. Feel free to sit in the Wi-Fi Wasi or the surrounding social space gardens to use your computer or other electronic devices (cell phones, iPhones, iPads, laptops, etc.). Please refrain from bringing these devices into the reception, bar and dining areas or near guests relaxing in the gardens.

5. Cell Service

Depending on your carrier, you will most likely have cell service. If not, you can use Skype, as the wifi signal is strong.

6. Tips & Gratuities

Your highly qualified guide will travel with you at all times to assist you and ensure that you have a wonderful journey. It is customary in Peru to tip the guide directly. Feel free to show your appreciation to the guide. The amount of money offered to the guide is at your discretion. Please plan to make this offering collectively during the last evening meal of the program.

7. Power Adaptor

Converter or transformer to 220V, 60 cycles AC for any equipment plugging into a wall socket. Mac products are OK to plug in.

8. Yoga Props

You do not need to bring any yoga props with you. We have mats, blocks, straps and more all there for your use.
