Our yoga retreats Italy blend good health with good living! Stay in a historic and stunning Borgo turned luxury 10-room boutique villa set in the Italian countryside—and immerse yourself in an old-world appreciation of Italian cuisine, culture, wine, nature and yoga—all wrapped in classic Italian luxury!

Flow of the Day

MORNINGS begin leisurely with an Italian cappuccino overlooking the Umbrian countryside. You may join an optional guided meditation session, sweat on our morning fitness walk, enjoy a swim in the pool, or read a book quietly over a breakfast. Late morning we meet in the ancient frescoed chapel for a dynamic yoga flow practice, with classes accommodating a variety of levels while providing challenge and learning for everyone!

AFTERNOONS begin with a mouth-watering gourmet salad and light lunch followed by free time to lounge by the pool, relax with a massage, read or siesta. Learn about the Umbrian kitchen in a villa cooking class with the amazing Chef Lucca Mazza. Visit a nearby 10th-century castle to taste a variety of Umbrian wines. For those wishing to visit the medieval towns of Assisi, Perugia or Gubbio, you may hire your own car or a private driver. At sunset each day we re-convene for a rejuvenating and informative yoga workshop and pranayama.

EVENINGS are pure magic, as we have a sunset aperitivo and elegant Italian dinner style under the stars—appreciating la bella vita!

Our historic villa dates back to the beginning of the X century, when it belonged to Rovaldo Baldassini, father of Sant’Ubaldo, patron saint of the town of Gubbio. The villa is located near the picturesque medieval town of Gubbio, the chapel of St Francis of Assisi, and the famous city of Perugia in Umbria. The property consists of different cut stone buildings leading down to a lovely pool, organic garden and spa overlooking a pristine valley of olive trees and lush woods. The former church, with historic architecture and original frescoes, is our sacred space to practice yoga and meditation!

The rooms are traditional and charming, set in a mood characteristic of Italian countryside, with all the amenities that make your stay perfectly comfortable! There is a lovely pool to lounge by, a warm jacuzzi and massages, an organic garden and endless countryside to wander and explore!

On our Mediterranean-style retreats we try for a good balance of retreat time, down-time and a taste of local cultural. Our experience on this retreat is that most people are perfectly delighted to stay at the villa to enjoy the peace and luxury of the countryside, pool, exquisite food and wine. Others who may have traveled a great distance or are experiencing Italy for the first time, may want to see an ancient medieval town or taste wine on a family vineyard. To give you full freedom to find just the right balance for you, we treat you to an in-villa cooking class with master chef Luca Mazza, and offer a local add-on wine-tasting at a beautiful 10th-century castle twenty minutes from the villa (reserve). For those who would like to explore the region we suggest either renting a car or hiring a local driver.

Discover or rediscover the joy of yoga with intelligent and creative yoga classes blending Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyengar and Yin Yoga traditions. Classes are led by Irish guest teacher, Sylvia Ferguson, with morning classes focusing on flow and afternoon sessions focused on alignment, pranayama, restoratives and yoga Nidra. Whether fiery and energetic or soft and receptive, the yoga sessions are designed for mixed levels, offering modifications for beginners, and greater levels of challenge for advanced students. Our yoga programs emphasize safety, awareness, intelligence—and the joie di vivre of yoga!

We strongly encourage you to arrive a day early (at least to a connecting European city). This extra day helps with jet lag and assures that travel delays do not cause disruption to your retreat. Also note that depending on where you are traveling to, it may not be realistic to fly out on the day the retreat ends.

Our villa is located 25 minutes from Perugia. From Perugia, you can rent a car or join our group pick-up at the Perugia train station.

You can fly to Rome, and either take a train to Perugia (2.5 hours), or rent a car and drive (3 hours) to the villa.

General Information and FAQ’s

Please check that your passport is valid for at least 90 days from arriving date. Depending on your nationality, you may or may not need a Visa to travel to Italy. You can check via this link: Italy Visa Information.

May and September is usually absolutely lovely in Umbria! Few tourists and great weather (often sunny, with an average daily temperature in the mid to high 70’s). However, weather patterns are now unpredictable even in southern Europe, so it’s possible to have rain and be chilly. The evenings can cool down so be sure to bring a layer for dinners on the terrace. Please view the forecast prior to packing: weather link.

Italy’s currency is the Euro. We recommend you bring a bank card and an international credit card (that does not charge you for each charge you make). Best to obtain cash at the airport after collecting baggage. The hotel takes credit card for extras (spa and bar bill) however you will want some cash for spa tips, add-on excursions and gratuities for the staff.

There is Wi-Fi access at the Villa. Please keep digital devices in your room. We strive to keep our common spaces free for relaxing and socializing. This is an opportunity to let your digital devices go to sleep, so you can wake up!

Depending on your carrier, you may or may not have cell service. If not, you can use Skype.

Tipping is not obligatory in Italy, however, always appreciated! 10% is a nice offer at restaurants or for other services. If you would like to leave a gratuity for the staff and chef at the villa, you will need to do so in cash.

Electrical outlets are standard European, type C and type F. Voltage is 230V. All rooms have hair dryers.

We provide mats and blocks for your yoga practice!
