Day 2

Thimphu is rich in cultural arts. First we visit the National Memorial Chorten with its golden spires, murmuring mantras and spinning prayer wheels. Next: The Folk Heritage Museum, a restored three-story, traditional rammed-mud and timber house that dates back to the mid-19th century. In the late afternoon we will have a restorative yoga practice.

Day 3

Embark on an exciting 2-hour trek into the fresh air of pine and rhododendron forests to the enchanting Cheri Monastery, with sweeping views of cascading mountain ranges. Observe how resident monks live, and join in meditation and prayer.

Day 4

Celebrate Bhutan’s cultural arts at the school of Traditional Arts—where students undergo six years of training in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts—and an artisan producer of beautiful handmade paper. Later that day experience the culture of Bhutan at the special annual Thimpu Festival. An afternoon like no other and one you won’t want to miss. We will replace yoga that day with a mindfulness day of immersive experiences!

Day 5

Visit the world's largest Buddha! Then enjoy a 3-hour scenic drive over the Dochu La, a dazzling 10,300 ft. pass, to the village of Punakha. Arrive at Drubchhu Resort, a peaceful family-owned haven amidst gardens and rural rice paddies. Meet for a restorative evening yoga session to unwind.

Day 6

Walk through mountain air and rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, the famous Temple of the Divine Madman. Built in 1499, this fertility temple is one of Bhutan's most sacred. We’ll lunch in a wonderful local restaurant, then return to our hotel for a siesta and afternoon restorative yoga practice.

Day 7

Today we visit one of Bhutan’s most important and impressive buildings, the colorful Punakha Dzong, dating from the 1600s. We'll visit a picturesque hilltop temple nestled among farms. Weather depending, we'll hike down a hill through lush forests and close the day with yoga.

Day 8

In the morning, we depart early for a surprise expedition (weather depending). After this fun secret adventure, we drive back to Paro where we'll spend our final three nights at the stunning 5-Star ZhiwaLing Heritage Hotel & Spa, renowned for Bhutanese art and architecture.

Day 9

Today is the big day, a 3-hour ascent up to the spectacular cliff-side Taksang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Clinging to the rock face some 2,700 feet above the valley floor, this famous monastery seems suspended both in time and in the air.

Day 10

Visit the National Museum and the historic monastery of Paro Dzong; built in the mid-16th century it is home to the 200 monks of Paro. In the late afternoon we will have a restorative yoga practice. Our closing yoga practice will carry us into our final dinner together, celebrating our new friends and new perspectives from this sacred time together in Bhutan!
