AYRUVEDA & YOGA 

Imagine living under the Tuscan sun, at an enchanting 800-year old villa farmhouse perched on a picturesque hilltop in Tuscany — as the setting for a week-long immersion into yoga and Ayurveda. Enjoy the perfect blend of a Mediterranean holiday with an exotic exploration of Ayurveda as a foundational, do-it-yourself medicinal path you can incorporate into your everyday life. Nourish your way to health with California author and Ayurveda expert, Talya Lutzker and NYC based yoga teacher, Hillary Wright, as your relationship to food and health is changed forever!

 

FLOW OF A DAY

MORNINGS  begin leisurely with a cup of Ayurvedic tea. . . or an Italian cappuccino. . . overlooking the rolling hills of Tuscany! You may join an optional guided meditation session, sweat on our morning fitness walk, enjoy a swim in the pool, or read a book quietly over a breakfast. Late morning we meet in the yoga studio for a dynamic yoga flow practice with Hillary, whose yoga classes are lively, deep and explorative, accommodating a variety of levels while providing challenge and learning for everyone!

 

AFTERNOONS  begin with a mouth-watering Tuscan-Ayurvedic lunch of salads, soups and sumptuous mediterranean farm to table cuisine, straight from the garden!  After lunch, relax, swim, enjoy a book in the shade, have a massage, sight-see around Tuscany, or siesta of course!  There will be two afternoon Ayurvedic cooking classes, and everyone is invited to have a private Ayurveda session with Talya to discover your personal dosha (pulse). At sunset, Talya will lead a session on Ayurvedic principles followed by a yoga practice aimed at toning your organs, stimulating your nervous system and building overall strength and flexibility.

 

EVENINGS  in Tuscany are pure magic as we join together on the terrace to savor a healthy Tuscan dinner cooked by villa owner and chef, Marion Riedmiller—blending Marion’s Tuscan recipes with recipes from Talya’s newest Ayurvedic cook book, Talya’s Kitchen. Experience, taste and feel the health-giving ingredients that make up Ayurvedic cuisine as we enjoy our meal, family-style under the stars, appreciating la bella vita!

 

 

STAY IN AN 800-YEAR OLD FARMHOUSE VILLA

Dating back 800 years and originally built as the main house to a large farming estate, this beautiful stone “casali” has been lovingly restored to offer the perfect balance of modern luxury with characteristic charm.  Each of the 10-rooms in the house are en-suite, offer full amenities, and all have views of the perfect Tuscan landscape!  There is a saltwater pool to lounge by, an organic garden from which our meals are prepared , and endless fields of vineyards, olives and rolling hills to stroll. Located in the heart of Tuscany, one can reach this country estate within 1 to 1.5 hours from Siena, Florence or Pisa.

 

 

EXOTIC YOGA CLASSES & AYURVEDA SESSIONS

Discover or rediscover the joy of yoga with Hillary Wright, a NYC based yoga teacher, and Talya Lutzker, California based teacher. Hillary will teach the morning flow classes, bringing a mix of intelligent sequencing, internal depth, breath work and challenging movement to leave you feeling both energized and grounded. Hillary is a highly experienced international yoga teacher, meditation teacher and writer who believes there is no “one-size-fits-all” yoga, encouraging each student to find their own path. Hillary facilitates teacher-trainings around the world, and has studied many different lineages of yoga, including: Sivananda Yoga, when she spent time living in the Amboli Ashram in India; extensive study of Vinyasa Yoga, as well as hundreds of hours of study of the Ashtanga Vinyasa lineage. Her extensive background studying the Ashtanga Vinyasa system brings a depth to her classes, while her knowledge and understanding of Vinyasa Flow brings a creative twist to the practice.

Talya Lutzker is a certified Ayurvedic educator, chef, cook and author of two Ayurvedic cookbooks, including the newly released, Talya’s Kitchen. Talya founded and runs a nutrition and Ayurvedic catering company in Santa Cruz, California, called Talya’s Kitchen. She is also a long-time yoga teacher in the traditions of Iyengar and hatha yoga, weaving in principles of Ayurveda to focus on healing organs, the nervous system and to build overall strength and flexibility. Talya’s passion for holistic medicine and innovative, healthful cooking sparkles in her lively and entertaining teaching style, and shines through everything she does. All of our Exotic Yoga Retreat yoga programs emphasize safety, awareness, intelligence—and the joie di vivre of yoga!

GROUP PICK UP IN FLORENCE:
We offer a group pick up in Florence on Sunday afternoon (time TBD) at the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) train station in the center of Florence.

RENT A CAR:

The villa entirely rural, so if you wish to tour the region, you may either rent your own car, or you can choose to join our included and add-on excursions. Note: if you are driving, you will find driving directions at this link. Please note that most cars in Italy are stick shift (not automatic).

General Information & FAQ’s

1. TRAVEL VISA
Please check that your passport is valid for at least 90 days from arriving date. Depending on your nationality, you may or may not need a Visa to travel to Italy. You can check via this link: Italy Visa Information.
2. WEATHER IN TUSCANY, ITALY
July in Tuscany is generally very warm, and can often be hot. There is a swimming pool, and fans in the rooms. The evenings do cool down to a lovely temperature. Please view the forecast prior to packing.
3. MONEY / CASH / CREDIT CARDS
Italy’s currency is the Euro. We recommend you bring a bank card and an international credit card (that does not charge you for each charge you make). Best to obtain cash at the airport after collecting baggage. The villa takes credit card for extras; however you will want some cash add-on excursions, massages and optional gratuities for the staff.
4. WIFI
There is Wi-Fi access at the Villa. Please keep digital devices in your room. We strive to keep our common spaces free for relaxing and socializing. This is an opportunity to let your digital devices go to sleep, so you can wake up!
5. CELL SERVICE
Depending on your carrier, you may or may not have cell service. If not, you can use Skype.
6. TIPS & GRATUITIES
Tipping is not obligatory in Italy, however, always appreciated! 10% is a nice offer at restaurants or for other services. If you would like to leave a gratuity for the staff and chef at the villa, you will need to do so in cash.
7. POWER ADAPTOR
Electrical outlets are standard European, type C and type F. Voltage is 230V. All rooms have hair dryers.
