MEXICO YOGA RETREAT!

YOGA, SUN, SEA & JOY

The Ultimate Winter Retreat!

A sun-filled beach, jungle and yoga holiday at a stunning eco-resort reachable only by boat!  Practice deep yoga, meditate and rejuvenate at this private and serene nature resort — with swimming, surfing, horse-backriding, paddle-boards, kayaks and a group of like-minded, multi-cultural yogis!

FLOW OF A DAY

MORNINGS ~ Wake up with a view to the sea and a chorus of tropical birds! With silence until 8:30 am, stroll along the beach, dive in for a sunrise swim or join in a group silent meditation to the waves. Yoga practice begins at 8:30, weaving asana, pranayama, music and meditation in a stunning open-air fully equipped and covered yoga shala located at the top of a hill, accented by spectacular views and a lovely sea breeze. Following yoga is a wonderful Mexican-style tropical buffet breakfast  And the day has just begun!

AFTERNOONS ~ Free time to enjoy!  Lounge on the beach, swim in the sea, surf, paddle-board, kayak, hike in the jungle, horse-back ride, enjoy a fabulous massage, experience a traditional sweat lodge… or just lie in a hammock basking in the sweet luxury of down-time!  A delicious buffet lunch is served from 1:30-2:30, followed by plenty of time for a siesta to the sound of the waves!

EVENINGS ~ 5 pm we reconvene for an empowering and deeply relaxing sunset yoga practice—focusing on inversions, forward bends and restoratives. Following our sunset session is an exquisite dinner on the sea-view terrace, a three-course gourmet meal featuring inspired and traditional Mexican recipes, designed for the healthy life-style of a yogi. After dinner take a moonlight stroll on the beach, gather with friends around a bonfire or even try your feet at salsa!

STAY AT A PRIVATE BEACH & ECO–RESORT

Accessible only by boat, you will be met at the airport in Puerto Vallarta and taken by boat to the one of Exotic Yoga Retreat’s favorite retreat spots — an intimate and secluded seaside eco-resort highly acclaimed for it’s serenity, beautiful open-air accommodations, delicious vegetarian cuisine and stunning yoga studios. Accommodations are on the simple side—not Exotic Yoga Retreat’s traditional 4-5 star classic luxury—but luxurious to the soul, and magical in the setting amidst nature and sea. All rooms offer a view to the sea and a chorus of waves for deep, rhythmic sleep!  Meals are based on locally grown produce and fresh fish, served in the spacious terrace dining area with spectacular views that overlook the jungle and the ocean. For all international flights other than the US . .  we strongly encourage you to arrive a day early to assure that travel delays do not cause disruption to your retreat.

RETREAT LOCATION:
Xinalani; a luxury, private beach front eco–retreat center outside of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Xinalani may only be reached by boat, there is no road to the retreat center.

ARRIVING IN PUERTO VALLARTA:
You will fly into Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) and be picked up by a shuttle that brings you to the pier. A boat will then pick you up and bring you to Xinalani. Guests should book an arrival flight that lands as early as 12 noon, and no later than 4:30 PM. Any flight arriving after 6 PM means you will need to spend night in Puerto Vallarta and be picked up at pier the following morning at 8 am. Often, participants choose to arrive to Puerto Vallarta on Friday and spend the night and explore the old city. If you would like ideas of where to stay in Puerto Vallarta please email us, we are happy to help!

GENERAL INFO  &  FAQ’S

1. TRAVEL VISA
You will need a CURRENT PASSPORT for your trip to Mexico. A Driver License is no longer a valid identification document for travel to Mexico. No vaccinations are required to enter the country. During the flight to Puerto Vallarta you will be given a document to fill out which you will then need to present to the immigration official upon your entry into Mexico. This document is your Travel Visa.

2. WEATHER IN MEXICO
The Central Pacific Coast of Mexico is surrounded by jungle and receives approximately 345 days of sunshine per year. Located on the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands, the sub-tropical climate is quite similar to Hawaii’s. As the temperature changes according to the season, check this link for local weather for the dates of year of your retreat.

3. IMMUNIZATIONS
No, immunizations are not required for this part of Mexico.

4. DRINKING WATER
The water from the faucets is safe for showering and other necessities but is not safe to drink. There is clean, fresh, purified water provided in each cabana for drinking, brushing your teeth and cleaning your contacts and contact cases. There is bottled water available in the restaurant each day. The ice used in the restaurant is also made from clean, fresh, purified water.

5. SAFETY IN THIS REGION OF MEXICO
Though Americans have been advised in recent years to travel to Mexico with caution, the Puerto Vallarta area hasn’t been affected by crime. Violence is located in other regions of Mexico far away from Puerto Vallarta. Also, there are no roads to Xinalani! Xinalani is accessible only by water, making the resort peaceful, secluded, and a real pain in the butt for a criminal to get to. We want our guests to feel completely secure, that is why, although our area is completely safe and has record low crime rates that most American cities envy, we offer a fully escorted shuttle service from the airport to the resort

6. MONEY / CASH / CREDIT CARDS
Yes, you will need money for excursions, spa treatments and tipping. Xinalani accepts either US Dollars or Mexican Pesos (MXN) in cash. You can either bring cash, or use the ATM at the airport. Once at Xinalani, there is no access to cash. Your room bill, massages, excursions and end of trip gratuities, can all be paid at the end of the retreat with your credit card. They accept  VISA, Mastercard and Discover but no American Express.

7. WIFI
There is limited wi-fi access in the reception which you are welcome to use. We are committed to keep our common spaces digital-free for relaxing and socializing. This is an opportunity to let your digital devices go to sleep, so you can wake up!

8. CELL SERVICE
Cell service and wifi for Skype, etc. is spotty and not reliable enough to schedule work calls; however a call home to check on loved-ones seems to work fine.

6. TIPS & GRATUITIES
The staff at Xinalani are simply amazing! They are so friendly and helpful! They come from a small pueblo within walking distance of Xinalani, and do rely on gratuities to supplement their income. At the end of the retreat, you are encouraged to consider giving $15-20 per day ($100-150 per week) to share amongst all the staff – and are welcome to give additional tips to anyone who has made your stay particularly special! You can add a gratuity to your bill and pay by credit card.

9. POWER ADAPTOR
Mexico uses standard American outlets.

10. TOILETRIES & HAIR DRYER
Xinalani provides abundant and good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner. Hair dryers are not allowed at Xinalani, as they take too much power.

11. YOGA PROPS
Xinalani provides all yoga mats, blocks, belts and blankets!
