A healthy and indulgent holiday—with a pinch of mischief and mayhem! On this 6-day Irish adventure you will experience the range—from 5-star luxury castles and cuisine, to a taste of pub fare and local life, balanced by true luxury—Ireland’s nature in all it’s majesty! Ferry to the Cliffs of Moher, sip high tea in the afternoon, drink lager and tap your foot to Irish medleys by night—balancing it all with the deep and rejuvenating yoga of Irish teacher, Sylvia Ferguson.
FLOW OF THE DAY
MORNINGS begin with a cup of tea cozied up in front of a fire in one of the beautiful castle salons. Mornings are as leisurely or “retreat-like” as you desire. You can have a good lie-in and read a book, or join in an optional 7:30 am group meditation, followed by a half hour silent fitness and mindfulness walk around the castle grounds. After breakfast, we’ll meet for our yoga session from 10:30-12, sharing a mindful, energizing and relaxing yoga practice.
AFTERNOONS are free to wander and relax on castle grounds,enjoy the spa, or join in on the host of wonderful excursions we have set for each day: hike the famous Greenway in Westport, ferry to the Aaran islands for lunch and then a view to the Cliffs of Moher from the sea; experience a unique sheepdog demonstration and the home of Ireland’s Benedictine Nuns and their magnificent gardens at Kylemore Abbey… and of course, tour castles and drink high tea in stunning tapestried salons!
EVENINGS are luxurious, with fine dining at our 5-star castle hotels—or full of music, mischief and mayhem, as we hit the local pubs—where anything can happen!
LUXURY YOGA HOLIDAY • IRELAND ITINERARY
Depart Dublin at 10 am for the beautiful and luxurious 12th-century Ashford Castle, our hotel for the first two nights. En route, we’ll stop to lunch and tour Kilbeggan, Ireland’s oldest licensed distillery. Discover the heritage and passion that goes into making this iconic golden nectar. We’ll arrive at our hotel in the late afternoon in time to settle in and get ready for our opening yoga class. You are in for a treat with Irish yoga teacher, Sylvia Ferguson! After yoga, a group toast to our good fortune to be in this historic place together as we with to enjoy a gourmet dinner in the grand George V Dining Room!
Our morning begins with a 7:30 am group meditation and a half hour fitness walk through the estate gardens—or opt for a leisurely morning lie in and delicious buffet breakfast. At 10:30 we’ll practice yoga, and then have the aftertnoon free to explore the castle grounds and enjoy activites at the castle, such as golf, archery or falconry. Or join our private tour to Killary Sheep Farm for a fascinating sheepdog demonstration at the home of Ireland’s Benedictine Nuns and their magnificent gardens at Kylemore Abbey. Lunch is on your own, dinner on us in a local village pub!
Live the perfect morning, balancing health and leisure with morning meditation, a walk in the autumn country air, yoga and breakfast. Lunch on your own and then join our afternoon and evening excursion to the village of Westport, in County Mayo, known for it’s famous off-road Greenway Trail where you can bike or hike in the beautiful nature of west Ireland. Continuing with our sampling of Irish pubs, we’ll taste local fare and experience pub life in the village of Newport.
An exciting and full day ahead viewing the Cliffs of Moher en route to our next castle stay at the famous Dromoland Castle! We start early with yoga and breakfast, ready to depart at 8:30 am for the Port of Rossaveal where we take a ferry boat to Inis Oirr, the smallest of the Aranof Islands. Upon arrival we’ll enjoy a tour of the island, followed by lunch on your own in a local pub. At 4 pm we reconvene to ferry along the Cliffs of Moher experiencing the best views magnificent cliffs that characterize the dramatic coastline of Western Ireland! We’ll arrive at Dromoland Castle in time to settle in, with a rest or aperatif, before dining together in this historic 12th-century castle. One of the most famous baronial castles in Ireland, Dromoland Castle was the ancestral home of the O’Briens, Barons of Inchiquin, who are one of the few native Gaelic families of royal blood and direct descendants of Brian Boroimhe (Boru) High King of Ireland in the eleventh century.
Wake up and take a cup of tea by the fire, meditate, walk, practice yoga, and enjoy the large and luxurious estate of Dromoland Castle. Today we will also visit one of the most complete castles in Ireland, Bunratty, and its associated Folk Park which recreates life in rural Ireland during the 19th-century. Before entering the castle, we will lunch together in one of Ireland’s oldest pubs, Durty Nellie’s, located just outside Bunratty. Then you will have the afternoon free to wander and explore the castle and park. Our final evening of this holiday will be a celebration in the musical capitol of Ireland—Doolin, in the County of Clare—enjoying dinner, traditional Irish music, and the new friendships we have formed.
Breathe in the beauty of Ireland in autumn one last morning as we meditate and share our closing farewell Sun Salutes together. While some people may need to depart straightaway for the airport, hopefully you can stay a while longer to indulge in the exquisite spa experience at Dromoland Castle. We have arranged a late check-out (1 pm) for anyone wishing to enjoy the spa—after all, when was the last time you received a facial, body wrap or full body massage in a centuries-old castle? Our Irish Yoga Holiday officially ends at 9 am, with a group transfer to Shannon International Airport.
